Es probable que ya sepáis que un grupo de investigadores artúricos ha encontrado un nuevo manuscrito medieval que recoge fragmentos de una versión diferente de la Vulgata artúrica que puede que esté más próxima a la utilizada por Thomas Malory (c. 1415-c. 1471) para redactar su Le Morte d’Arthur (1485). Una gran enhorabuena a los descubridores.

You probably already know that a group of Arthurian researchers has found a new medieval manuscript that contains fragments of a different version of the Arthurian Vulgate which is very likely to be closer to the one used by Thomas Malory (c. 1415-c. 1471) in order to write his Le Morte d’Arthur (1485). Congratulations to the discoverers.

1. O celtismo e a materia de Bretaña na literatura galega

En primer lugar feliz Navidad y lo mejor para el nuevo año 2019. Nuestra compañera Alma Idamons nos ha preparado una preciosa felicitación de Clytiar, que he adjuntado. Gracias, Alma.

El grupo de música clásica antigua Capella de Ministrers, dirigido por Carles Magraner y fundado en Valencia en 1987, presentó el pasado día 4 de diciembre en la capilla del Santo Cáliz de la catedral de Valencia, su nuevo volumen El Grial. Música y literatura medieval en torno al Santo Grial, es decir, con textos medievales clásicos del Santo Grial. He adjuntado un artículo sobre la presentación y la información oficial sobre este disco. Amazon lo anuncia ya, pero indica que no estará a la venta hasta el 11 de enero. Capella de Ministrers se caracteriza por interpretar música española anterior a 1800, de manera fidediga, es decir, según se hacía en cada época y con instrumentos musicales históricos.

La clásica novela de caballerías de la literatura catalana Curial e Gülfa (ca. 1445-1448), de autoría anónima, acaba de ser publicada en un versión adaptada al catalán moderno. Todo un acontecimiento para la difusión de este texto fundamental que fue muy influenciado por los medievales franceses sobre Lanzarote y Tristán:

First of all, Merry Christmas and the best for the new year 2019. Our colleague Alma Idamons has prepared a wonderful Clytiar Christmas card that I have attached. Thank you, Alma.

The old classical music group, led by Carles Magraner and founded in Valencia in 1987, presented last December 4th in the Holy Chalice Chapel at the Cathedral of Valencia, their new volume entitled El Grial. Música y literatura medieval en torno al Santo Grial [The Grail. Medieval Music and Literature on the Holy Grail], that is, including classic medieval texts on the Holy Grail. I have attached an article on the presentation (Spanish) and official information on the CD (English and Spanish). Amazon has started to advertise it, but it will only be available for buying purposes from January 11th, they say. Capella de Ministrers specialized in Spanish music dating before 1800, which they play according to their original interpretation techniques and with historical musical instruments.

An adapted version of the classic Catalan novel of chivalry Curial e Güelfa (ca. 1445-1448), of unknown authorship, has just been published in a contemporary Catalan. A great event trying to promote this fundamental text among present day readers. The Curial was highly influenced by the French texts on Lancelot and Tristan:

Next 23-5 October Madrid will hold the so-called VII Congreso sobre Arte, Literatura y Cultura Gótica Urbana (Seventh Conference on Art, Literature and Culture on the Urban Gothic Imagination). Después de descanso veraniego, anunciaros que he localizado otra traducción de Méndez Ferrín al francés (ver adjunto): un volumen con tres de sus textos, entre ellos el gran Amor de Artur (original en gallego) (Nantes, Le Passeur-Cecofop, 1982). De este texto existen traducciones al español, al inglés y al francés.

También, otro tesoro de traducción, esta vez desde el alemán al español. Se trata de la pieza teatral Die Ritterder Tafelrunde (1989), de Christoph Hein (1944- ). Estos son los datos de la traducción de Marta Fernández Bueno (ver adjunto):

After the summer break, I want to announce you that I have been able to locate another French translation of a a text by Méndez Ferrín into French (see attachment). It is a volume that brings together three of his stories, among them the great Amor de Artur / Arthur’s Love (original in Galician) (Nantes, Le Passeur-Cecofop, 1982). As far as I know there are translations from this text into Spanish, English, and French.

Also, another translation treasure, this time from German into Spanish. I am talking about the play Die Ritterder Tafelrunde (1989), by Christoph Hein (1944- ). These are the bibliographical data of this translation by Marta Fernández Bueno (see attachment):
